Good government gone bad version 2.0. Thought conservatives had a monopoly on economic illiteracy, think again. Liberals are about to make the same mistakes all over again. That is not to say that goverment does not have a role to play in mitigating the effects of the current economic downturn. But, I would argue their efforts are focused in the wrong areas.

It's officially spring time the solar cycle brings about regrowth, but the economy is still in a deep freeze. In hindsight the bailout of the car companies was a bad idea and failed to prevent the inevitable. For the sake of political ambition the government gave the car companies all they asked for and more. Yet we are back where we were six months ago. What happened?

Off-shore Development or Off-shore Fraud?

I check the referral log of my website from time to time to see where people are coming from. I discovered something rather shocking recently when I visited one of the links. The company the link led to claims to have designed not only my website, but those of several other companies as well. Their “portfolio” of design work shows a thumbnail of the site and lists the client name, and clearly their name as the “Designer”. I thought, this must be a mistake, so I did some research, only to discover blatant fraud and deception.

Within the last 12 months the digital segment of the economy has truly come of age. Yes, E-commerce and web-based transactions have been around for some time now. Music, movies, electronic funds transfers have taken their place in micro and macro economic terms. However, an event that occurred in December 2004 represents a tremendous shift in the digital economic realm. This event was the public launch of World of Warcraft ® by Blizzard Entertainment® - or WoW as it is known by gamers.

Regardless of the outcome of RIAA's legal battles with Napster, Scour, and others there remains a void in the online music business - a sustainable business and revenue model. This document is the product of research with fans and artists, the top prize in the war being waged in the music industry. According to their feedback, neither RIAA nor Napster will be able to maintain their positions without the support of both fans and artists.
